At 10:46am on March 13th, 2008, Imelda Bettinger said…: Yes, if you have notifications turned on you will get updates on your phone (if that feature is turned on) or via IM if you tied your im client to twitter. In the settings you can also set a time frame you want notifications turned on or you can do it manually by sending the text/im of "on" or "off".

I found a very simple twitter video explanation if you want to check it out. Its on my blog, imeldabetinger.com :)
