About Me:
During the week, I develop computer software for clients in just about every industry.

After work, I go running at Memorial Park a few times a week to clear my head and get my heart pumping. On the weekends, I push myself even harder with longer runs as I train for my first marathon. My training is taking a brief break while I recover from shin splints that popped up after a streak of hard running that was apparently a bit overdone. In the meantime, I've gotten back on my road bike. I'm finding myself in Austin pretty often these days and will be taking advantage of its many challenging hills.

Of my other interests, music would have to be paramount. As a toddler, I danced around the room with my dad to Billy Joel and Led Zeppelin. In junior high and high school, I played numerous instruments including clarinet, saxophone, xylophone, and guitar. By the time I got to college, I had abandoned everything but guitar. Since, I've also picked up harmonica, mandolin, and ukelele, but still focus primarily on guitar. I never get to play as much as I'd like, but enjoy it thoroughly when I do. While I have an appreciation for most genres of music, Indie Rock has captivated me with its unpredictability and variety of styles/sounds. I'm on an ever-changing quest to define what it is exactly that draws me to the music I like and have thus far only reduced my search to the sounds of certain bands. Someday, I hope to understand what it is about the melody, arrangement, lyrics, etc. of these bands that captures my ears and my heart.

My personality can best be described as focused, determined, witty, goofy, talkative, and outspoken. I tend to be reserved in situations where I do not feel comfortable and often choose to avoid them as a result. I'd rather be surrounded by true friends than pretend to be interested in those with whom I have nothing in common.

As this is turning into a lengthy autobiography, I'll wrap it up for now with the origin of "Dammit Andy." When I was about three years old, someone asked me my name and I curtly replied, "Dammit Andy." This seems to incriminate my mom but at the same time sheds some light on how difficult I must have been as a child. My friends find it very convenient to call me this from time to time, so it's a nickname that remains with me to this day.
