WTF
Is it just me, or does anyone else (namely Jac a.k.a. WriterJax, Sarah and Lisa) loath their ancestors today for setting up permanent camp in western Massachusetts centuries ago? I mean, really. Snow, rain, freezing rain, sleet and flooding? And that was just in the past 24 hours.
This kind of weather was awesome when I was under 12 years old, scurrying to get my snowpants, jacket and all of the necessary accessories that would keep my extremities toasty. Armed with those red plastic sleds, we would set out for a snow-filled adventure - flying down the hill, ducking behind a snow fort after tossing some of the white stuff my brother's way (my little sister was always on my side, naturally).
Ahhh, those were the days; when snow was fun. It got us a lot of days off from school, too - one of the other little towns in my regional school district is so hicktown that only Main and a few other streets are paved, so clearing the roads wasn't really an easy task - if the Conway kids couldn't get to school, none of us had to go. Double thumbs up, Conway!!
These days suck. All a snowstorm means now is that I have to carefully pick out shoes to wear to work that won't soak through to my socks or nylons, or make me fall on my behind. I'm getting really sick of my winter jacket, too - there's so much static cling running through it that I may as well climb up an electric pole, lick my hand and grab on to the wires.
Maybe we were on to something with that whole snowpants/boots/sled/snow forts idea........ who's with me?!
