Nobody Gonna Break Our Stride.

ohmyalikins

my definition of spring break didn't quite come to fruition during my actual spring break!

wow. that was a tough "break" to say the least! we headed to california to retrieve my mother because the state was about to take her from her home. she suffers from a multitude of mental health issues that haven't been diagnosed as of yet and was, well, not happy with all the extra "help" we had come over to her home. we had a few violent outbursts that i am not pleased that emilee was subjected to, but, she ultimately handled it very well for a 5 year old. she knew right off the bat that her "yaya" [grandmother in Greek] needs some help and we're here to provide her with that help. it did however initially upset her, which made me upset, but, the whole situation is upsetting, so, whaddya gonna do? here's the rest of my story in a nutshell because it's so lengthy and full of shtuff, i don't think i can possibly write it out at this time.
we finally got my moms things loaded in the moving truck, and headed to Palmdale where my sister lived. we had gone to her apartment first, but she didn't have anything packed, so we headed to my moms in order to give her another day to get it done. well, that wasn't enough time. and apparently three months wasn't enough either ~ we had decided to get this move done in December, final preparations we thought were understood and were being arranged by february, and then when we got there last week, nothing had been done! it was a nightmare! james & i basically did everything in two days time after driving two days there, and then hit the road right away and spent another two days travel coming back. we took my mom to university hospital when we got here and for such a tiny woman, she can put up a serious fight! it took two nurses and two security guards to get her back into a room ~ the night dragged on and on with sedatives that would put a bull rhino to sleep and screaming that would wake the dead. two days later they had to move her to the 6th floor and it took 7 security guards! yep, you heard me correctly, SEVEN. now, it's been 5 days, she's on haldol which seems to be working, but they don't want her to be on that for very long since it has strong side effects. at this point, i'm uncertain as to the outcome of this whole thing. my sister doesn't do anything to help really, she's a worrier, sleeps til noon and doesn't think she wants to get a job. her 16 year old daughter is still in 9th grade and wants to continue taking independent study for high school rather than just study well and get her GED and be done with it. there's no work ethic there ~ nada, nowhere to be seen. it's sad. and frustrating. so, what do you think? is it seriously a nightmare? usually, you get to wake up from a nightmare though. this one seems to be ongoing. maybe i'm just a complainer. sorry girls :/

Wow. I wouldn't call you a complainer at all!
But brave, strong, and resiliant? Oh, yes. Those all fit.

I can only imagine how tough it is to care for a parent. You are a strong person and a great daughter. I'm sure she knows this in her heart even if she does not show it. Hang in there.
