Nobody Gonna Break Our Stride.
Yes we can
As Randy Marsh so eloquently screamed in the streets of South Park recently, change is here! "Obama says everything is gonna change! Yes we can!"
While I'm getting pretty tired of the now 24-hour coverage of the countdown to the presidential inauguration tomorrow, I am filled with optimism, and it seems to be lurking around every corner. In the midst of a recession and a war that I will fore-go commenting on at this time, we desperately need change. We need to help our uninsured, homeless, jobless, down-and-out fellow Americans. These are predicaments that no one is immune to, and any one of us could be in those shoes.
We're entering an historic time in our country. It seems that many long-awaited hopes and dreams are being realized. An African-American president with a female secretary of state - that in itself is wonderful.... one word in particular comes to mind: finally. Someday I can tell my grandchildren about this hopeful start of change; a new chapter in the book of our nation that my great-grandchildren will learn about in school.
Changes are happening all over the place, nationally and in our own neighborhoods. And I, for one, am ready.
