Looking over our small but growing membership here I notice that there are far more women than men. I'm not complaining about this at all, I'm just wondering why there appear to be so many more female bloggers than male? Anyone care to guess why?
seriously, I often notice that while there are a lot of male and female bloggers, there seem to be more women in networks like these. And while I hate to generalize, I think that women tend to be the socializers and the joiners (in the good sense), and see the possibilities in networking (i.e., makin' new buds).
That said, I'm happy that we have as many blogger boys here as we do already. When I was a member of 20something bloggers, the ratio was even more skewed toward the chicks, but I see that changing over there, too.
Because boys don't keep "journals." Most of the male bloggers blog about something in particular - sports, business, social media, video games, what have you.
Or you're out hunting.
Of picking up random chicks.
Or being captains of industry.
I think that since blogging isn't something that a lot of men do that you have to be sort of confident to do so.
I don't know, I married my husband 'cause I liked his blog. YMMV. ;)
We like to say what's on our minds and get feedback from our peers. Women need an outlet where as men do not (not as much anyway). We're very complicated, socialable creature that love to share our thoughts even if it is trivial at times. =)
Dare I say that women are more clever and quick-witted? No, that can't be it.
In looking at my own enlightened spouse, I know for a fact that if he's online, he's not blogging about what he had for breakfast or why President Bush is a tool. He's looking up parts for his mountain bike or reading Patriots/Red Sox/Bruins stats. I know for a fact he's a member of several mountain biking sites where he posts fascinating comments like, "The rear shock on this season's Cannondale is far superior to the past two models."
Whereas on this site, we like to have fun and get a little philosophical with nary a comment about RBIs or shots on goal.

It's because most men die in their mid-twenties. There are only a few of us in decades past that, and we have to wear a lot of disguises to make it look like we're still half the population.
